03. 19th October 2016 – 80th Anniv. Displays

The meeting today was 80th Anniversary Displays it was decided to show the displays we put on at the museum in June to celebrate our 80 years, this time the members spoke about their own collections, the few minutes talking describing the displays gave much more than just looking,

Don describing how a postcard he bought had no stamp and postmark was unreadable, but blowing card up on scanner showed him the Film that was on display at the Rialto, he looked it up and the film opened in 1929 therefore card was from at least 1929, great detective work.

President Tom described a new term he found for his collection he called it vandalism, the desecration of a miniature sheet by a club member (a postcard collector) who took the stamp out of the sheet, the stamp value 20p the whole sheet was £1.00 so he devalued it to worthless. This brought great hilarity from the members present.

Congratulations to everyone who put up a display or more.

All the displays except the 2 items mentioned above are on the website under 80th Anniversary Displays.
